How to: Transition Summer Wardrobe to Fall

In the fashion world, fall really starts in July. You start seeing cardigans, scarfs and booties. Stores all over are starting their “Summer Sales” to really push it out so fall attire can make way. But, what if you take advantage of that summer sale to wear those pieces in the fall, too? Below is how you can transition some of those summer pieces in your closet for the fall. You may not have some of these pieces, but get some inspiration and start styling!

A vest dress that can be worn into a jacket? Yes please! During the summer this is usually worn as a dress but during the fall, why not style it into a jacket so that you can layer pieces with it? You can wear it with another dress as pictured. Style it with a trendy hat and some cute booties or sandals. Another way to style this is with a long sleeve shirt and some cute jeans. This vest dress is so versatile. Perfect for all year round. (Get it in black too!)

Our Star Shirt Dress is a fall must have. You can wear it as a dress with some thigh high boots and killer accessories OR style it as a shirt! Pair it with some hi-waisted jeans and some booties. If you have a dress in your closet that you can play around with, try it! Doesn’t hurt. Plus, you might discover you can create so many looks and save so much money!

This Floral Embroidered Bomber Jacket is a perfect fall transition. In the summer, bomber jackets are usually worn on colder days but more so at night but with fall, a bomber jacket is your outfit all day! Style this one with a darker denim and some statement shoes or maybe some white denim and wedges. A stylish denim skirt would also look amazing with this jacket!

Camouflage is IN this fall season. We’re already seeing many bloggers wearing camo pants, tops, sweaters and of course jackets. This Camouflage Star Sequin Jacket is perfect for the fall. The sequins make this jacket look a lot more fashionable and you can style it wearing an all white outfit and some statement heels or keep it causal with a denim mini skirt.

This Chambray Tassel Cardigan is so lightweight and trendy. Lighter pink pastel colors tend to look great with blues! You can pair it with a subtle pink top and some distressed jeans. If you are feeling casual and neutral, you can never go wrong with a simple white top and some dark denim.

Don’t be afraid to spend some time playing around with your summer clothes! You may find out that they can be more than just a dress or a top.

Happy fall styling,

Top 3 Tips To Find Style Steals!

The biggest fashion heartbreak is when you find something you LOVE and it’s way over your budget. We’ve all been there. Here are three tricks to getting that item you love within your budget:

  1. Google the item! Sometimes stores carry the same items for even better prices. If you google the name or description of the item, you will find something similar or even the same piece! When trying to find a top, try using key words like “dupes” or “small business” or “inexpensive”. That helps to narrow down your search.
  2. If you really love it- check back in a week. Sometimes stores have random sales and you might catch it at the perfect time!
  3. Did we forget about Pinterest? You will find SO much on Pinterest with a simple search like “Gingham Ruffle Top.” Pinterest will be your best friend in this research process!

Below are some prime examples of finding a dupe of an item you love!

Helen Berkun Styles Swim

Hello, summer! I’m sure you’ve been hitting the beaches and the pools and soaking in that summer sun! Why not look cute while doing it? All swimsuits on our site are only $20 but only for a limited time!

Helen Berkun, a fashion photographer, stylist, creative director, influencer, shoe collector and mama, wore our swimsuits and let’s just say she looked way too cute. Check out our interview with Helen and how she styles our swimsuits like the true stylist she is!

T&J: You do and balance so many things.  What do you see yourself as more?  Stylist, photographer, model, blogger

H: Honesty, I see myself as a creator. I love all things visual. I started out as a fashion photographer over twenty years ago and somehow ended up styling. In a sense both go hand in hand. I’m a better photographer because I know clothing and a better stylist because I understand light and fabric. Because I grew up on set I know how to work the camera, training so many models after so many years, you just get it. Blogging came last and was sorta a happy accident. I’ve been documenting what I wear since 6th grade. I have hundreds of disposable camera shots of all my outfits. It’s funny, someone just posted on my Facebook that I was voted best dressed in high school, so you can imagine, I’ve always been like this. Doing what I get to do on a daily is no luck, I worked my ass off but it’s certainly a ‘pinch me job’ because my dream. my hobby, my love, became my career! Love all things beautiful. Whether it’s a table-scaping, gardening, clothing, photography, I’m all things visual. I always grew up with my parents throwing the most decadent parties without a lot of money and so it’s certainly a lifestyle.

T&J: What is your favorite and least favorite part of your job(s)?

H: Least favorite: definitely hours and hours or retouching, formatting and answering a gazillion emails cause I’m always behind. Most favorite, is no day is the same. Every day I’m at a different location, with a different client most likely, maybe even in a different state. I’m not a creature of comfort or repetition so for me, this is the best part.

T&J: What is your guilty pleasure?

H: Real Housewives of Everything. It’s mindless entertainment that I don’t get to enjoy much of. With three kids and being an entrepreneur I don’t have time for TV so when I do it’s pure pleasure!

T&J: How would you describe your style?

H: I’m definitely a little bit girly and a whole lotta rock and roll. I am a glam girl, which is funny because I grew up as a complete tomboy and now I’m very glam with a boyish element. I’ll always wear my studded leathers, and large tough accessories.  I also notice I dress to how I feel, every day is different. The Gemini in me likes to play up my different personas and looks.

T&J: Favorite apps on your phone

H: Instagram, Net-a-Porter, Facebook, RewardStyle, and Podcasts (I drive a lot and love listening to various ones).

T&J: What is your top tip in making your photos/photography really good?

H:That’s a tough one since I’m a trained photographer I finished art school. Lighting is everything! Too much retouching is too much. I’m not big on not seeing skin and a ton of blur on people’s faces these days. There is such a thing as too much Facetune!

T&J: Give us your best piece of advice for all the girlbosses out there!

H: Get em girl! Honestly, just go for it. The difference between a dream and a goal is time right? So just do it, live your dreams, don’t be scared, take risks. I’m a total go getter. In terms of looking for clients I don’t wait for them to find me. I knock on doors, I make phone calls, I make sure they know who I am and what I can bring to the table.

Some of our swimsuits come in different colors so make sure to shop while you can! Plus all our graphic tees and sunglasses are $20 too! No code necessary.
