Spring Lookbook and Donte Tatum

A new season calls for fresh style, and a fab T&J lookbook shoot to showcase our new Spring collection. We recently had our photo shoot at The Bangtel Hotel in Chicago and we worked with photographer, Donte Tantum, on some new shots. He is so talented, energetic and we had such an amazing time shooting with him. To get to know more about Donte and his killer photography, check out our interview with him below as well as some of the shots from our Spring Fling Collection photo shoot.

Thanks to Ashley (blog), Ali (blog), Ariel (blog), and Heidi (blog) for joining us for the shoot.

T&J: What inspired you to be a photographer?

Donte: The first thing I ever wanted to “be” was a writer. After high school I discovered the camera. I like to think that I’m still telling stories, it’s just that my tool kit has changed.

T&J: What’ was your favorite photography job?

Donte: When I was a photography assistant I worked with Annie Leibovitz photographing the Obamas at their home for Mens Vogue. A few years later I was hired as a photographer for Source magazine photographing Obama at his midterm election rally in Chicago’s Washington Park. That was pretty cool.

T&J: What is the hardest thing about what you do?
Donte:Innovating. Creating fresh, relevant work on a consistent basis.
T&J: What are your favorite things to shoot?
Donte: People having fun. Also fitness and athletic inspired images. I was recently in Cuba photographing boxers in training at the oldest boxing gym in Havana.
T&J: What are your favorite things to do in Chicago?
Donte: Eat.
T&J: Any interesting facts we should know about you?
Donte: I’ve got the most adorable Boston Terrier named Roxie who sometimes finds her way onto my instagram feed.
Special thanks to Donte for such a fab shoot and for sharing his story with us. Be sure to check him out on instagram and stop by our site to check out all our newest spring arrivals!

Versatile Graphic Tee: How to Dress Them Up and Down

If you have a graphic tee, than you have countless outfits. Why you say? Because you can make your graphic tee into so many outfits using what you have in your closet! Pair your graphic tee with your favorite boyfriend jeans, or even wear it under a slip dress! To give you some graphic tee inspo, I’ve pulled some inspirational looks on how you can dress up your graphic tee with a pantsuit or dress it down with a statement skirt. Take a look at all T&J Design graphic tees to help you create this look!

Dress it Down!

Try pairing your graphic tee with a statement skirt to create a chic look you can wear for a GNO or even a date night!

Miss USA from 2012, Olivia Culpo, looking so chic in a high waisted leather skirt and the famous, Power Rangers, graphic tee! Keeping leather alive, you can add a leather jacket just how Culpo did! She looks super fierce, and I’m loving it!

I really love this look. If you have a sequin skirt, a graphic tee would love PERFECT with it! I love how she styled this with a pair of sneakers. It just adds more to the look to keep it casual yet still in a way dressy. The added clutch always helps!

Absolutely loving this heart graphic tee and how its styled. If you have a patterned pencil skirt, these are so great to pair with your graphic tee. Try it with a different colored shoe to get a fun look. Get similar shirt here!

Pleated skirts are super trendy right now. Try styling your skirt with a graphic tee. Add a belt and a leather jacket for a fashionable look!

Dress it up!

Work in the fashion world or wish you did? These looks will give you the best of both worlds. Try styling your graphic tee with a pantsuit. You’ll turn heads and look instantly chic.

Have a gray pantsuit? Pair it with a colorful graphic tee or maybe a boy band tee and some colored pumps. You’ll look street style in a matter of seconds.

If you have a statement pantsuit, keep your graphic tee simple and make sure its a neutral color. Love how this outfit looks. Make sure to accessorize!

A metallic pant suit already speaks for itself so you can either keep a simple graphic tee or wear a colorful one! Either way, these look is super trendy.

Want to try something different? Try this! Adidas is probably one of the most popular brands at the moment. Get a traditional Adidas shirt and pair it with your patterned pantsuit. You’ll look weirdly sophisticated, but in a good fashionable way 🙂

Find graphic tees like this and so much more HERE! So many graphic tee styles, so little time.

Happy (graphic tee) styling,
