Spring Lookbook and Donte Tatum

A new season calls for fresh style, and a fab T&J lookbook shoot to showcase our new Spring collection. We recently had our photo shoot at The Bangtel Hotel in Chicago and we worked with photographer, Donte Tantum, on some new shots. He is so talented, energetic and we had such an amazing time shooting with him. To get to know more about Donte and his killer photography, check out our interview with him below as well as some of the shots from our Spring Fling Collection photo shoot.

Thanks to Ashley (blog), Ali (blog), Ariel (blog), and Heidi (blog) for joining us for the shoot.

T&J: What inspired you to be a photographer?

Donte: The first thing I ever wanted to “be” was a writer. After high school I discovered the camera. I like to think that I’m still telling stories, it’s just that my tool kit has changed.

T&J: What’ was your favorite photography job?

Donte: When I was a photography assistant I worked with Annie Leibovitz photographing the Obamas at their home for Mens Vogue. A few years later I was hired as a photographer for Source magazine photographing Obama at his midterm election rally in Chicago’s Washington Park. That was pretty cool.

T&J: What is the hardest thing about what you do?
Donte:Innovating. Creating fresh, relevant work on a consistent basis.
T&J: What are your favorite things to shoot?
Donte: People having fun. Also fitness and athletic inspired images. I was recently in Cuba photographing boxers in training at the oldest boxing gym in Havana.
T&J: What are your favorite things to do in Chicago?
Donte: Eat.
T&J: Any interesting facts we should know about you?
Donte: I’ve got the most adorable Boston Terrier named Roxie who sometimes finds her way onto my instagram feed.
Special thanks to Donte for such a fab shoot and for sharing his story with us. Be sure to check him out on instagram and stop by our site to check out all our newest spring arrivals!
